Breakfast and After School Club (GPS Rangers)
Welcome to GPS Rangers at Gorsefield Primary School.
GPS Rangers caters for children from 2 to 11 years and provides high-quality before and after school care that meets the needs of both children and their parents/carers.
What makes GPS Rangers special is that it is much more than childcare. Our provision is intentionally designed as an extension of the school day, complementing and enhancing the learning that takes place in school. GPS Rangers is rooted in our Learning Without Limits Curriculum, allowing children to continue to develop their knowledge, skills, interests and independence beyond the traditional school day.
Activities and experiences are planned with the school curriculum in mind, they are planned by a qualified teacher, who manages GPS (Mrs Perry). Children have opportunities to revisit and deepen learning from the classroom, explore skills in different contexts and follow their own interests. Our text spine is also an important part of GPS Rangers, with familiar books and stories revisited through reading, discussion, creative activities, play and other experiences.
The provision is flexible and responsive to the children who attend. While activities are intentionally planned to enhance the LWL curriculum, children are given choice and ownership over how they spend their time. This might include creative activities, construction, outdoor play, physical activities, games, reading, imaginative play, practical experiences or simply spending time with friends.
Our aim is to create a seamless experience between the school day and GPS Rangers, where children feel secure, valued and known by the adults supporting them. Because GPS Rangers is run by school staff who also have roles within school during the day, children benefit from familiar adults, strong relationships and consistency of care. Staff know the children extremely well and are able to build on their individual interests, strengths and needs.
All adults working within GPS Rangers are qualified in food hygiene, first aid, administration of medication, allergy and anaphylaxis, asthma awareness, e-safety and cyber security, fire safety and all aspects of safeguarding and child protection, ensuring that children are cared for in a safe and nurturing environment.
Booking and Payments
GPS Rangers provides a consistent and reliable service for parents and carers. Sessions must be booked and paid for at least 24 hours in advance using the Arbor App.
Parents/carers can pay for sessions using Tax-Free Childcare, Childcare Vouchers or the Childcare Grant Payment Service if they are in education. Please contact the school office for further information.
GPS Rangers operates during term time.
- Before school: 8:00am–8:45am
- After school: 3:30pm–6:00pm
- Short after-school session: 3:30pm–4:00pm
All parents/carers must sign the GPS Rangers Terms and Conditions before their child starts attending and book sessions through the Arbor App.

Holiday Camps
Gorsefield Primary School run 2 holiday clubs during the summer:
HAF: Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme. We are delighted to work with the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme to provide children and families with access to free, fun and enriching activities during the school holidays. HAF offers children the opportunity to enjoy a range of engaging experiences, develop new skills, build friendships and stay active, while also providing families with valuable support during the holidays. We are proud to promote these opportunities to our families and encourage eligible children to take part, have fun and make positive memories outside of the school term. Through our partnership with HAF , EdStart and other community organisations, we aim to ensure that every child has opportunities to learn, belong, be active and thrive throughout the year.
Charity: We are proud to work in partnership withEdStart and The Bread and Butter Thing to provide families with access to two weeks of free holiday provision for all children. This partnership helps us ensure that children can enjoy a positive, engaging and supportive experience during the school holidays, while also providing practical support for families. The Bread and Butter Thing works with communities across the UK to help make life more affordable for families and provides support that goes beyond food, helping to strengthen communities and reduce the pressures families can face. We are delighted to be able to offer this opportunity to our families and believe that working together with trusted community partners makes a real difference to the wellbeing, experiences and opportunities of our children.
