Physical Education and School Sports

At Gorsefield Primary School, we believe that physical education, sport and physical activity play a vital role in every child's physical health, mental wellbeing and personal development. We are committed to providing an inclusive, high-quality PE curriculum that inspires all children to enjoy being active, develop confidence and resilience and build healthy habits for life.

From April 2025, the Primary PE and Sport Premium transitioned into the Government's Transition Funding arrangements, supporting schools as new national reforms to PE and school sport are introduced. At Gorsefield, we continue to use this funding to enhance the quality of teaching, develop staff expertise, widen opportunities for participation and provide a broad range of sporting experiences, competitions and physical activities for all pupils.

Our aim is to ensure that every child, regardless of ability or background, has the opportunity to participate, achieve success and develop a lifelong love of being active. Through carefully planned lessons, enrichment opportunities and extra-curricular clubs, we promote teamwork, resilience, leadership and healthy lifestyles while ensuring our provision remains sustainable and continues to meet the expectations of the Department for Education.
