Encompass

At Gorsefield, the safety and wellbeing of our children is our highest priority. We are proud to be part of Operation Encompass, a national safeguarding initiative that helps schools provide timely support to children who may have been affected by domestic abuse.

Operation Encompass is a partnership between schools, police and other safeguarding agencies. Following a domestic abuse incident where a child may have been present, experienced or been impacted by the event, the police will securely share information with the school before the start of the next school day. This allows us to provide appropriate support at the earliest opportunity.

The information shared is treated in the strictest confidence and is only accessed by trained safeguarding staff. Our role is not to investigate, but to ensure that children receive the understanding, care and support they may need during what can be a difficult time.

At Gorsefield, we believe that children learn without limits when they feel safe, secure and supported. Operation Encompass helps us to strengthen this commitment by ensuring that we are aware of circumstances that may affect a child's wellbeing and readiness to learn. By receiving information promptly, we can provide additional care, understanding and support when it is needed most, helping every child to feel valued, listened to and ready to thrive.
